中国计划建造海底铁路隧道连接各省首府

BEIJING: Opening its railway sector toprivate investment, China is planning to connect capital Beijing with allprovincial capitals by high-speed bullet trains through undersea railwaytunnel, spanning 5,700kms.
北京:中国把铁路部门向私人投资开放,与此同时,中国还计划通过海底铁路隧道的形式利用高速子弹头列车将首都北京与所有其他省会城市连接起来,海底隧道总里程将达到5700公里。
The nationwide undersea tunnel through the Bohai Gulf will be built as part ofa network to connect Northeast China and South China's Hainan Province,extending 5,700kms in 11 provincial regions.
通过渤海湾的这条全国性的海底铁路隧道将成为连接中国东北与中国南部海南省总体网络的一部分,这条海底隧道总长5700公里,跨越11个省份。
The new undersea rail network will connect Beijing with all provincial capitalswith a travel time of eight hours, state-run Global Times said, citing WangMengshu, a railway expert at the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
《环球时报》援引中国工程院铁路专家王梦恕的话说,这条新的海底铁路网络将把北京同各省会连接起来,总的旅行时间为8小时。
The undersea rail network, if realised, would run from Dalian, NortheastChina's Liaoning Province to Yantai, Shandong Province in a mere 40 minutes, a remarkableimprovement from the current six-hour trip.
如果真的成为现实,通过这条海底铁路隧道,从大连到烟台只要40分钟,而目前需要6小时。
However, some experts questioned the comparative advantage of inter-provincialrailways over other means of transport.
然而相比于其他的交通方式,有些专家对省际铁路所能发挥的相对优势产生了质疑。
"It is internationally believed that a distance of 500 km is to the best advantage of high-speed railwaysand a distance of 1,000 kilometres is the maximum, but the distances betweenbig Chinese cities are usually more than 1,000 kilometres," Zhao Jian, aprofessor with the School of Economics and Management at Beijing JiaotongUniversity, told the daily.
“国际上公认的看法是500公里的距离最能发挥高铁的优势,最多不能超过1000公里。但是中国大城市之间的距离通常都超过了1000公里,”北京交通大学经济与管理学院的赵健教授说。
He said that passengers prefer planes for longer trips since high-speed trainfares are not cheaper than air fares at that distance.
他说,在远距离旅行时旅客一般会选择坐飞机,因为在这种情况下,高铁的费用并不比机票便宜。
Zhao chose the 1,300-kilometre-long Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway as anexample.
他以1300公里的京沪高铁为例子。
"There are more trains between Beijing and Jinan along the line, at adistance of around 500kmthan between Beijing and Shanghai, while the number of flights between the twobiggest metropolises in China has not decreased," Zhao said.
“在这条线路上,北京到济南的高铁反而更多,大约500公里,北京到上海的反而更少,而且这两个中国最大城市之间的航班并没有减少,”他说。
Wang, however, argued that the undersea high-speed railway will drive economicdevelopment in the northeastern region and meet the huge demand for energyresources from coastal cities.
但是,王认为海底高铁的建设将能促进东北地区经济的发展,也能满足沿海地区巨大能源的需求。
"In addition to the coastal regions, China should also developnorthwestern, northeastern and southeastern parts to be gateways as Central andWestern Asian countries serve as large energy exporters for China," Wangadded.
“除了沿海地区,中国还应该发展西北,东北和西南地区作为关口,因为中亚和西亚向中国出口大量能源。
Contradicting the claim, Zhao said that high-speed trains cannot providefreight services, and energy reserves in the three provinces in Northeast Chinaare low.
与自己的看法想矛盾的是,赵又认为高铁并不能提供货物运输服务,而且东北三省的能源储备很低。
Even if trains are able to carry goods, the inadequate passenger flow andfreight volume from the region will put high-speed railway under great pressureto recoup its enormous building costs, he said.
他说,即使高铁能够运输货物,该地区游客和货物量的不足将无法收回巨大的高铁建设成本。
